Tooling Automation Engineer

1. Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain automated test cases for ECU and system-level validation using internal frameworks and Vector tools.
  • Create toolchains and scripts (Python) to support test automation, signal stimulation, fault injection, and results processing.
  • Collaborate with System Engineering and Validation Engineers to translate system requirements into automated test scenarios.
  • Integrate test cases into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous validation coverage.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results (ideally with JAMA, Polarion, or similar tools).
  • Own the configuration and management of Vector-based tool environments (CANoe panels, CAPL libraries, vTESTstudio projects, etc.).
  • Provide technical guidance to Validation Engineers on the use of tooling and test automation practices.
  • Support fault reproduction and regression testing in preseries and series vehicle builds.

 

Occasional tasks:

  • Develop custom tooling (e.g., signal generators, log parsers)
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies
  • Create dashboards or reports for test metrics
  • Train validation team members on tools and automation workflows
  • Participate in design and requirements reviews

3. Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of automotive ECUs and network architecture
  • Experience with HIL/SIL/MIL testing environments
  • Awareness of ISO 26262 or validation process standards
  • Proficiency in Python or other programming languages
  • Strong hands-on experience with CANoe, vTESTstudio, or VT System
  • Understanding of CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS diagnostics
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Version control using Git
  • Requirement-based testing methodology and traceability principles
