Responsibilities
Design and develop the interface and components between the power grid and battery energy storage systems.
Collaborate with the electrical and system design teams to ensure seamless integration and optimized power transfer.
Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate grid connection requirements and system performance.
Specify and select appropriate electrical components, such as transformers, filters, inverters, switches, protection devices, and control systems.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations governing power grid interfaces and energy storage systems.
Perform electrical calculations and simulations to validate the design and assess system performance.
Work closely with external stakeholders, such as grid operators and certification bodies, to address interface-related requirements and obtain necessary approvals.
Support the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of power grid interface systems.
Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to power grid interface design for energy storage systems.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and participate in design reviews.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in power grid interface design for battery energy storage systems or similar applications.
Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, grid codes, and relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC).
Proficiency in electrical design software and tools (experience with EPLAN is desirable).
Familiarity with electrical protection and control systems for power grid interfaces.
Understanding of power electronics, including inverters, transformers, and switchgear.
Ability to perform electrical calculations, simulations, and modeling using software tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve interface-related issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs.
Knowledge of renewable energy and energy storage technologies is a plus.
